Samsung S11 – Samsung’s Back On Top

In February, Samsung is going to launch its newest flagship phones; the S11 and S11+. But, in normal Samsung fashion, they have leaked into oblivion. Here’s a brief roundup of all of the leaks so far, and what I think of it.

What’s the same?

First of all, what carries over from the Note 10? Primarily, the front design is very similar, with a centre hole punch, and slightly slimmer bezels all around.

As well as that, the S11 will get up to 25W charging, and the S11+ will get a maximum of 45W charging, according to recent leaks. The phone will come with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, which will be a bit larger than the one in the Note 10, which should correct the speed and accuracy issues that a lot of users experienced with it in the S10 and Note 10 phones. The battery will likely get a slight bump, to about 4500 mAh.

Screen

The screen of the S11 will change a bit too, getting a 120Hz refresh rate, much higher than the 60Hz of the Note 10. This is in line with where the market is moving, as high refresh rate will be included on many phones in 2020

It will also get a slight stretch, to 20:9, as opposed to the 19:9 of the Note 10, which should make it much better for reading and watching content.

Cameras

The cameras are the other biggest change in the Samsung S11 series. It is all but confirmed to have a next-generation 108MP sensor, a more advanced one than is included in the Xiaomi Mi Note 10. Also, it will have a 5x optical zoom, and a ToF sensor. The 5x zoom lens is rumoured to have a variable optical zoom, to allow for optical zoom from 2x through 5x, which is much better than anything else on the market. 8K at 30fps will also be supported, but that isn’t really the star of the show. It is thought that the wide-angle lens will carry over from the Note 10, but there are still between 1 and 3 sensors that haven’t been reliably leaked, which we don’t know about yet. But even these cameras would make for one of the best camera systems in a phone, so I for one am hyped.

Unfortunately, with great cameras come great camera bumps. And this phone has a big one. The rectangular camera housing is pictured above, and it is rumoured to have a sizeable bump. But in my opinion, it is worth it for such a great camera system.

S11+

The biggest thing about all of these leaks is that they don’t describe the ‘+’ model of the phone, just the S11, and according to Ice Universe, there is a large difference between the S11 and S11+. That means that the S11+ has the chance of being the phone to beat in 2020, and I am really excited about it.

So what do you think? Are you excited for the S11? Or are you looking forward to another phone? Let us know in the comments below.
